After 25 years as a top event planner Paula knew that to create her perfect venue, she needed to offer fine restaurant quality food with warm and professional service. At Rose & Smith we offer authentic Wairarapa hospitality. We’ve proudly hired and trained a Wairarapa team. Where possible we’ve only sourced local produce and we feature Wairarapa wines, beer and gin. Our aim is to have you and your guests feel at home with every need catered for.

We are incredibly fortunate to have secured Dale Keith as our Rose & Smith resident chef. With 30 years as a top chef and hospitality entrepreneur you’ll know of Dale’s work most notably as General Manager of Vista Café in Oriental Bay, The White Swan in Greytown and creator of ‘The Chipperies’ in Mt Victoria and Thorndon. Dale also features at many local vineyards as a guest chef.

Dale brings not only his beautifully presented, locally sourced, incredibly exciting food; he also provides a deep wealth of food and wine knowledge. We are fortunate to be based in bountiful Wairarapa where we have access to local farms and orchards that provide us with the freshest produce. Everything we serve is made from scratch and sourced from Waiararapa farmers and artisans where-ever possible.

With an expert on hand to help you choose just the right dishes and beverages, you can rest easy knowing that every guest will be, not only catered for, but blown away. Whether you are a self-proclaimed foodie, or unsure of where to start; Dale is on hand to guide your menu selections and create a personalised feast your guests will talk about for years to come.

Dining At Rose & Smith

Your Rose & Smith experience starts with a selection of Dale’s World-Street-Food inspired canapes. These generously portioned, modern canapes are served straight to your guests from our outdoor kitchen.

The beautiful smells from the outdoor kitchen add to the ambience of your celebration. Your guests will love to interact with the chefs and watch their food being created. Your protein is slow cooked on the spit during the day while canapes are created on the Yakatori grill or fire pits and served to you while you relax on the lawn during your cocktail hour.

Dinner is served in our exquisite dining hall at long wooden tables with bentwood chairs. Your meal is served family style off shared platters and bowls. Professional table service allows us to replenish any dishes (and beverages) as needed so every appetite is catered for.

Dessert is your choice of, plated sweet treats or a selection served from our buffet or our famous homemade soft serve Ice-Cream.

A late-night supper is a popular option to curb the ‘we’ve dance for hours’ hunger. Dale whips up your favourites, his famous Dirty Cheeseburgers or Wood-fired Pizzas, served straight off the outdoor kitchen wood fire to your hungry guests on the outdoor dancefloor.

We pride ourselves on our high level of service in all aspects of planning and overseeing your special day, so that you can focus on the most important thing of all – enjoying your event or wedding!

Dietaries and Children

With prior knowledge we can cater to all your guests’ dietary needs. Dale has created a menu that is predominantly gluten and dairy free and very easily adapted to allergies and diets. Our team will make sure your guests with dietary needs are located straight after the ceremony so we can assure them they’ll be served only what they can eat.

Children are catered for at $40.00 a head with your choice from the children’s menu. They will also receive a goodie bag with activities and snacks for the canape hour.

Beverages

Rose & Smith is located in the heart of one of the best wine regions in the world. We want our guests to enjoy local wine and experience the quality our region produces. Dale hand selects a fantastic selection of local wine, beer and gin for your guests to enjoy.
