R&S: When planning your wedding what was most important to you?
C&A: We are both from big Samoan families so it was super important to weave our culture in to our wedding and that the food was excellent and plentiful. We had our ceremony on a large family tapa cloth and Charmina performed a traditional taualuga. Our friends also performed the best haka we’d ever experienced which was incredibly special.

Charmina’s stunning floral installations were so timeless and elegant
R&S What have your guests commented on the most since your wedding?
C&A: The food! Dale is a King. And our beautiful band.
R&S Who was the vendor you are glad you invested in?
C&A: All of our vendors were amazing amazing. If we had to choose one, it would be our photographer, David. The photos speak for themselves and he is a vibe!

Charmina and Aaron’s ceremony was held in The Garden Nook
R&S: What went into or what was important to you when choosing your menu?
C&A: It was important for us to have a balanced menu across our canapés and dinner. We had a good mix of proteins, carbs and vege which complemented each other beautifully. We were also grateful Paula talked us in to the smashed cheeseburger because of course they were a hit!
R&S: What is the one piece of advice you would give to future R&S couples?
C&A: Don’t sweat the small things! I know this is cliché but it is especially true on your wedding day. We had a wedding in the middle of Covid, a large part of it without power (thanks to Paula we barely noticed) and it was the best day ever.

R&S: What initially drew you to Rose & Smith and what made you book?
C&A: We were planning to have 200+ guests at the wedding – we loved the look of R&S and it was one of very few venues that could accommodate that number of guests. We viewed many places but felt like most of them were just trying to sell us the biggest packages they had on offer and didn’t actually care about the vision for our day. When we visited R&S for the first time, we knew that was our venue. It is a stunning place and Paula put us at ease right away – the most warm and welcoming host. It helped that her attention to detail is second to none and she clearly has a lot of love for what she does – we trusted her completely. Ultimately, with Covid lockdowns and rules, we could only have 100 people there but we wouldn’t have changed a thing.
R&S: Anything else you would like to add about your Rose & Smith experience.
C&A: Booking R&S as a venue was like an all-inclusive which also gave us the best chef and wedding planner in the biz. Our wedding was about as stress free as you could get because it was run by professionals. R&S is THE BEST.
